Situated on a small peninsula on the south bank of the Sado river opposite the city of Setúbal, which is connected by ferry, the city of Troy bears important evidence of the Roman presence in this land, in particular the fish salting workshop (it was an important industrial complex of that time). These are the ruins of the Roman settlement of Cetobriga, which later moved to the other side of the river and gave its name to the city of Setebal.
Today Troy is a tourist resort with magnificent sandy beaches with a total length of 18 kilometers, a developed hotel chain and a magnificent golf course that meets the highest requirements.
In June, the International Film Festival is held here, during which world film celebrities come to Troy.
