Sergiev Posad arose in the XIV century around the pearl of Orthodox architecture - the Trinity-Sergius Lavra - the richest museum in the country. Church utensils, Russian icon painting, and handicrafts are exhibited here. Here, in the Lavra, in the Trinity Cathedral, the relics of St. Sergius of Radonezh are kept. The Sergius Church houses the former royal palaces, hospital wards and monastic cells. Near the Assumption Cathedral - the central cathedral of the Lavra - is the grave of Boris Godunov.
Rostov the Great with its famous Kremlin is one of the most interesting cities in the Golden Ring. The largest and richest churches in Russia are concentrated here: the Assumption Cathedral, the Spaso-Yakovlevsky Monastery, the Church of the Savior on Seny, the walls of which are decorated with frescoes. Items of decorative and applied art, samples of Rostov enamel are exhibited in the Kremlin museums.
Yaroslavl is an ancient city on the Volga. Here are the Spassky Monastery, the Church of Elijah the Prophet, the tombs of Russian princes, the Tolgsky Women's Monastery, museums. The museums contain rich collections of icons, church utensils, household items, antique porcelain and paintings.
Suzdal. There is also the Kremlin here. And 33 more churches and 5 monasteries. The most famous of them are the Nativity Cathedral, the Bishops' Chambers, the Intercession Monastery, the Spaso-Efimievsky Monastery with a unique belfry, the bells of which are ringing over the grave of Prince Pozharsky.
Vladimir is the pearl of the Golden Ring. The city was founded by the Kiev prince Vladimir Monomakh. There are more than 100 architectural monuments in Vladimir. A special place is occupied by the monuments of white-stone architecture - the Golden Gate, the Assumption Cathedral, the Dmitrievsky Cathedral, the Rozhdestvensky Monastery.
