Tashkent is the capital of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The city is located in the foothills of the Tien Shan.
In the course of archaeological research, many ruins of fortresses and ancient buildings dating back to the VII- VIII centuries were found on the territory of the city. In those distant times, there were a great many of them here, which is why the city was called the state "Thousand Fortresses".
